This is an Initiative about inclusive traveling and self-advocacy. SEN Support is co-organizing this tour with the Hong Kong Baptist University to bring 12 students to experience the inclusiveness and accessibility in Taiwan thorough self-exploration and peer supports. Successful applicants will need to attend a half-day training before departure, complete the 4-day-3-night tour in Taipei and a group project to share findings with the campus and society communities.
Composition of the Initiative
- Training & Briefing session in the afternoon of 23 December, 2019 (Mon)
- 4-day-3-night Tour in Taipei on 7 – 10 January, 2020 (Dark Experience Workshop, Barrier free discovery visit by inclusive tour guide in wheelchair, Study Tour and exchange with the National Taiwan Normal University and Handcraft workshop)
- Project Work to Promote Inclusive Traveling to own campuses by 31 March, 2020
Eligibility
- Current full-time HKUST and HKBU students declared with SEN / registered as Peer Counselor (HKUST) / Inclusive Ambassador (HKBU) on UGC funded programmes aged over 18 by the time of travel.
- Holder of valid traveling passport allowed to enter Taiwan with validity till 31 July 2020.
- Priority will be given to non-final-year students
- Priority will be given to those with good command of spoken Putonghua.
