Don't judge a book by its cover! In a Human Library, readers borrow human beings serving as open books have conversations they would not normally have access to. And in a Human Library, human books defy a stereotype.

Human Library has become trendy in the recent few years and it has started to be talked about in Hong Kong. It creates a safe place to line up people with different backgrounds to learn about another person's story in the real-life with an aimed topic, with a target to challenging stigma and stereotypes through dialogue.

SEN Support has invited Dr Chitat Chan of the Human Library Hong Kong to give a workshop on how to be a "book" to tell others your personal experience with your topic -- it is a place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated and answered. In the workshop, you will learn about:

  1. The background and development of Human Library in the World and in Hong Kong

  2. Readers and Human Books in a Human Library

  3. Rules and regulations in a Human Library

  4. Skill workshop

While it is not compulsory, SEN Support will assist interested students to serve as the human books to organize a Human Library on Special Educational Needs on campus in Spring 2020 term.

Light refreshment will be served in the workshop. Please register on or before 11 November 2019, Monday.
