Do you know how accessible and inclusive in Singapore? Here’s a good opportunity to explore and navigate this city. This is a Barrier-Free Discovery tour for students with SEN to experience both inclusiveness and accessibility in Singapore. Successful applicants will get a chance to attend training before departure and join a 6-day-5-night tour in Singapore, and participate in a video documentation project during the trip, capture moments that highlight barrier-free experiences and inclusivity for sharing with the community.

Things to Do and See in Singapore

  • Inclusive exchange experience with the universities in Singapore, including National University of Singapore (NUS) and Singapore Management University (SMU)
  • Experiential learning on the practices and strategies in supporting students with SEN
  • Discovery of barrier-free excursion in Singapore
  • Volunteer services for communities in need at local NGOs
  • Interactive and fun workshops

The arrangement of tour activities is subject to the actual situation (e.g., weather, transportation). 

 

 

Who Can Join

  • Current full-time HKUST students studying UGC-funded undergraduate programs 
  • Students declared with SEN 
  • Aged over 18 by the time of travel 
  • Holder of a valid passport that is allowed to enter Singapore with validity till 31 December 2024 

All above requirements are required.  

 

 

Tour Coverage

  • Roundtrip group air-ticket between Hong Kong and Singapore (standard economy class), taxes and surcharges 
  • Hotel accommodation in Singapore (2 participants of the same gender will share a room) 
  • Breakfast on all days of the tour, at least one lunch and one dinner during the tour
  • Local shuttle bus service in Singapore (except for self-arranged activities)
  • Program fees, admission tickets and tour guide service charges (except for self-arranged activities)
  • Student travel insurance provided by HKUST (please purchase separate plans if extra protection is needed) 
     

* Other expenditure not mentioned above is at the participants’ own expense. 

* Participants are responsible for arranging their visa application (if needed) and e-arrival card.

 

 

Tour Fee 

No tour fee is required.  Instead, a refundable deposit of HK$2,500 will be collected upon confirmation of offer acceptance. Deposit will be refunded to participants who complete all the components of the tour and fulfill the requirements. 

 

 

Notes to Applicants 

  • The organizer reserves the right to decline any participant whose health conditions are perceived as interfering with the safety of the individual or the group. In that case, the participant should bear the consequential costs of any risks that may be created, directly or indirectly. 
  • For the case of traveling with a care-giver, s/he shall be responsible for his/her own traveling expenses & liability. 
  • Participants must depart from and return to Hong Kong as a team on assigned dates of the tour. The organizer will not certify the completion of tour to the participants who withdraw from the tour, which will result in no refund of the deposit. 
  • Terms and conditions of the travel insurance provided by the University are available on HKUST website. Please purchase separate insurance plan if extra protection is needed.
